What makes high school what it is? The Friday night football games, Prom, and
the late night cram sessions? These things all make up and consume most of
our high school careers. Without having that entire group of friends, these
activities and high school in general would not be the same. Some students
have had friendships that have lasted for years, and others just meet while
entering high school. Being able to have that one person in your life who can
share all your fun times, triumphs, and sorrows is something one would cherish.
They're always by your side to help get you through the day. Without your
friends to encourage you and suppo~ you, there would be no you.

Winterfest is one of those times of the year when all of the
musical talent at Widefield is brought together in three beautiful concerts. Jennifer Ruybal says, "I love Winterfest because
there is a variety of talents." That is exactly the truth, too.
The first concert starts the night off with the Symphonic Band,
Wind Ensemble, Women's Ensemble, and the jazz Band. The
second concert includes Chamber Strings, A Capella Choir,
String Orchestra, and the Women's Concert Choir. On the
third night Chamber Winds, Classic Chorale, and Chamber
Strings finished the event with the whole crowd singing along.
It is easy to say that this year all of the musically talented students will remember these concerts.

There is no one person alike
That is why Widefield stands out
Taking on the honor to be a Gladiator
May sometimes not be what you wanted
But now I stand tall knowing where I arn
What I am apart of
Who I am today
Because I became a Widefield Gladiator
I show my pride by wearing school color~
I help out in many activities
ljust want to have memories
If it weren't for some of the teachers
I donl know where I would be
Probably not who I am today
Because I may not have had the chance
I take pride in being a Gladiator!

Having fun, hanging out with youl' fl'iends.
They make you laugh when you want to cr'Y.
Wol'king hal'd to get good gl'ad ,
Leaving a good impl' ion on tho e teachel'
you'll need fol' a l'ecommendation one day.
Wol'king after· hool

Having tl'ouble telling them how you feel,
Making new fl'iend ,

Team
As you walk around Widefield High School, you can automatically tell that
everyone has a favorite sport. Our athletes love to show team spirit, and the
students like to support their favorite team(s) any way they can. It could be high
school, college, or pro teams. From the Chicago Bulls dynasty in the early 90's to
the most recent New York Yankees dynasty to the dynasty in the aking of
Widefield athletes, young teens get more pumped up when they're thinking
about sports teams. Evan Pickett (12), says "The Chicago Bulls are my

Consfrucfio
The Widefield Construction class has been around since 1977 and has given many of its
students careers that will corry them through the rest of their lives The full class tokes
three years to complete and by the third year the students partake in building a full
house all on their own. Two years of the class ore spent on the site building, framing ,
digging, laying concrete, as well as many other tasks that go along with building a house
Not only does the doss teach students life-long lessons on the construction industry, but
Oit shows them teamwork as well all the while bringing in a big profit for the school. An
overage home sells for about $165,CXXJ and, other than the cost of materials, a few
sodas, and cinnamon rolls, the school gets the full check The possibilities in this class ore
endless; however, the students and teacher hove to work very hard As anyone con see,
the class has many perks to it The students learn to build, the school makes money, and
some lucky family gets the chance to live in a home built by Widefield s best and only
construction workers

Our Town Rocks
the House
Our Toom is a Pulizt;er Prize winning play about two families in
Groves Gnner, New Hampshire. The theater production class
out did themselves with this play. It is one of the most difficult
plays the class has done in recent years. The students reaUy had to
prepare themselves, as weU as their characters, because this outstanding play broke the forth waU and had the characters talking
directly to the audience. The entire class pulled together to make
this play outstanding and worth every minute. "I was amazed
with the talent when I came in. The students aU work together;
they love theater and work reaUy hard to get everything done,
especially their characters," said Ms. ElweU about the students in
this year's theater production class. Kevin Morrison loves drama,
and he Uked the idea that the play is challenging. He said, 'This
play is the most challenging because everything is so simplistic. By
far, this is the most fun I've had in drama. Ms. ElweU came in this
year and reaUy made my time in drama worth while." The spring
play is a very fun piece for the audience to watch and the actors
themselves are very anxious about the reaction they will receive.
However, this play will be just as successful as the others they have
done, so they have no need to tOOrry. Our Gadiaaors are rocking
the house!

Sparks are flying between William
Biga (12) and Melissa Coffey's (10)
characters.
